Phase One Done … Now onto Phase Two!

If you look at the previous post, you’ll see a brief list of what I described as “Phase One”; namely getting a music player to play a song and have another person hear that song played. I’ve done that!

This is very exciting. It took me several days to get the right programming to access my Apple Music library to play a song, and the other parts fell into place. If I’m playing a song as a “creator” and someone else is listening, I now have it pause the listener’s song if the creator pauses the song. Still trying to figure out how to “resume” after pausing.

FYI, I’m building this platform/system to use Apple Music (similar to what Stationhead does). I plan to first launch it as a website (that would be usable on a phone or tablet, too), and only use Apple Music. Eventually I’d build an app of it (for phone and tablet) and have it include Spotify.

Phase Two is roughly this:

  • Setting up a list of songs that the creator can play.
  • Having the listener hear a new song start when the creator launches it; even if a different song is already playing.
  • Implementing a simple chat feature.
  • Get my system to work on other browsers than Chrome (I can only get it work properly on Chrome, for some crazy reason!)

Sooner or later I’ll need volunteers to test this stuff out. You are welcome to add comments below, and also keep me caffeinated!
